Based on State and National outbreaks of the West Nile Virus, most
experts are predicating a record year in 2009.
Frio Nature Conservancy
urges all residents to take the steps, outlined in this short video.
Located some 8 miles North of Rockport. Lamar and Holiday Beach is a low lying area made
up of vegetation and lots of standing water, a superior breeding ground for mosquitoes. To
the best of our knowledge, the community has no Vector Control plan or intervention activity.

The following Radar Image was taken on 11/18/08 at 7:15 PM and depicts a large amount of
mosquito activity (the areas in red) even at this late stage of the mosquito season.

With the onset of the cooler season, we believe that the mosquito activity will diminish for
the next 3 to 4 months and will reappear with the warmer season. Now is the time to begin
planning your intervention methods for the upcoming season. The Frio Nature Conservancy
has begun a study of this area and will publish it's recommendations, on this site, within the
next couple of months.
